Application of the Week: EQ AltTab

appweek-tab.jpg

Fourth part of my series, today with “EQ AltTab”.

“EQ AltTab” is task manager simulating the classic “Alt” + “Tab” hotkey known from Windows to switch between opened applications.

You can choose between several combinations with whose you call up a very nice designed overview about your running applications.

EQ AltTab:

EQ AltTab has got nice options to personalise the settings: you can set the “Hotkey”, change the “Icon Size” and select “Exceptions” when the application shall not work.

Hotkey: You can choose between four predefined combinations. I am using “Pen+Green”, because “Pen+C” is already used by Nokmote.

Icon Size: By default is set “40×40″, but I think the larger the icons are, the nicer looks “EQ AltTab”. It’s clear, that fewer icons match onto the screen then.

I will show you later, how the icon size affects.

Exceptions: Indeed a well through-thought feature. The icon of an application is not displayed in “EQ AltTab’s” screen, when you mark an application as “Exception”. All installed applications are displayed in a list and can be selected.

And now it becomes interesting: I am typing in the hotkey and the “EQ AltTab” screen appears: The large icons and the application name is displayed at the bottom, I really like it!

With a further press on the “Green” key while I am holding the “Pen” key, the screen switches to the next icon.

It becomes even nicer: The largest “Icon Size” setting looks really the best in my opinion.

Here you can see the smallest setting. Obviously, it is only useful for “real” multitasking users who need a lot of place for their running applications.

“EQ AltTab” will remain on my phone memory, because it is a really nice application. Useful and good looking  - that’s real Windows feeling!

You can download “EQ AltTab” here, the version is unsigned.

[...] utilized very often, it is often used as part of a hotkey to activate applications, among them “EQ AltTab” and “Nokmote v1.0 Beta [...]

Sadly you can’t sign these anymore, since Symbian is a stupidly annoying OS that tries to limit WAY too much free software. I am starting to hate Symbian.
