I just found information about the very first “real” game which combines impressive 3D graphics with accelerometer control.
We have only seen very simple games using the accelerometer of the N82, N95 and N95 8GB which weren’t really fun to play a long time, because of a boring game principle and poor graphics.
“Mirage Money” is developed by Fadi Chehimi, a you student, to demonstrate the power of an API called “Mirage-X” he developed to provide 3D motion control for navigating with 3D virtual and augmented environments running on mobile phones.
Players can move around in a real or virtual world and collect silver and gold coins by colliding with them on the screen.
The game includes two modes:
“Real Mirage” is an innovative idea: the phone camera is used to display live pictures of your environment. The coins are added into this “real” environment.
“Virtual Mirage” shows the impressive 3D graphics. The “real” environment is replaced by the nice looking virtual world.
The whole game concept – motion control plus a 3D world – seems amazing to me, but unfortunately it seems not to be meant for public download at the moment. I really hope the developer will publish this game. Popularity of this game will be no problem as we haven’t seen any kind of such a high quality accelerometer game yet.
Also the developer plans to release two games with other very promising concepts:
The first will allow two players to battle through space over a Bluetooth connection and second will utilize the N95’s GPS to create a novel augmented reality location based game.
Let’s hope that the developer won’t keep his games unpublished, would be a real shame!

Actually Karonte, it uses both (I know the guy who developed it). The camera image is not used to determine movement though, it just provides a background to the game.
