Python is a very powerful and easy to handle program lanuage which has become quite popular to develop simple applications for Symbian.
One of those developers who is using Python is Damien. With his funny accelerometer applications like “pyPiwo” or “pyRybka”, he amazed many users of the N95, N95 8GB or N82.
His newest work is a modded Snake Python Script. Maybe you already know this very simple script from the Python Script Shell which is a very basic version of the classic Snake game we all know from old Nokia phones.

Damien modded this script a little bit and created a standalone application which does only need Python as usual. He added accelerometer support what means you control the snake’s direction only by moving the phone.
Furthermore, there is a little bar which displays current points.
You control the snake by rotating your phone in the corresponding direction. At first this kind of control seems to be pretty hard and unexact, but after a while of practise it should work fine:

There is a little bug; the snake can move into the score bar.
One more point means another 10 points. After hitting the wall or the snake’s back, the game is over, your reached score is displayed and you can restart a game.
As I said, it’s only a basically modded script, so there is no highscore.
However, I prefer to play the traditional script with the use of “RockNScroll” and little tilts what is more fun for me.
But this little application is worth to be tried, another great work of Damien. You can download the English version which he exclusivly translated for Symbian-Freak here.

[...] There is somebody pretty talented called “AcidSonic” who is the creator of some very nice looking graphic stuff for S60. He is the author of the great Windows Media Player skin for “OggPlayer” and also the nice 3D Python icon for “pySnake”. [...]
