I think many of you will remember the announcement of the very innovative web browser “Skyfire”.
“Skyfire” promises PC like web experience with server rendering technology. Content of a page is first rendered on a server and then sent to the handset similar to “Opera Mini” what unburdens the phone and shortens rendering time.
Of course “Skyfire” supports all the comfortable features we know from computer web browsing to deliver people “real” web browsing: you can watch any web video, listen to any web music, stay connected on any social network and browse whatever you want – everything you can browser from your PC, can be browsed with “Skyfire”.

Many people signed up to receive the beta version of the great web browser which is currently only available for Windows Mobile phones. All people who have already signed up received an email yesterday with information to keep interested users up-to-date:
All the people who signed up between February 8 and March 1 are already or will soon be able to download the first beta version which is of course only available for Windows Mobile devices.
People signing up after this date are in the beta 2 phase which start in Summer 2008.
The interesting thing for us Symbian users is of course that also the Symbian beta phase will start this time.
Symbian update:
In addition to adding features and building a robust Windows Mobile Skyfire, we also have development underway for a Symbian version of Skyfire. Stay tuned as we extend our beta to the Nokia N-series and E-series phones in the U.S. this summer. Beta 1 and 2 users who have signed up indicating that they have Nokia phones do not need to do anything. We’ll contact you as soon as it’s ready.
“Skyfire” seems to be a really revolutionary browser you shouldn’t miss. If you didn’t sign up to the beta phase yet, you can do this here.
More information about “Skyfire” is available in my previous post.

Hey I am in India and I use a Nokia E62.It has a useless browser. But I discovered Opera Mini sometime time back.AND it has made me fall in love with my phone. Thanks to Opera Mini I have chucked my Laptop.Opera Mini combined with E-62 smartphone is a deadly combination.Yesterday I received an update of my Mini (any update to the Beta is sent to your phone automatically if you chose socket instead of http in the protocol settings).
Now comming to this SKYFIRE browser, I think there is a lot of hype around it.I don’t think it is going to be any different from Mini, apart from maybe flash support and text coping feature. But hey by the time SKYFIRE is out with it’s Symbian version, I bet Mini is going to beat it with a pleasent upgrade.I am sure people at Opera are burning the midnight oil.
All this competion is good for people like you and me. It will ensure that all future upgrades and new launches are much better than the earlier ones and also FREE to use.
Looking forward to the WAR.

Don’t think this browser really copes with Opera Mini, more with Opera Mobile. Opera Mobile 9.5 looks also very nice, but won’t be freeware.
I also like Opera Mini, but only for mobile browsing. The S60 browser is more comfortable.

The Opera Mini 4.1 browser is just out, and offers many new worthy capabilities. What flipped me was it permits access to Google Documents from my Nokia 9300, which the default browser will not provide. http://www.operamini.com/beta/
