Solution for S60 Access Point Problem: Psiloc Connect – One Access Point to rule them all

Honestly, I really prefer freeware applications and if they must be commercial, they shouldn’t be developed by Psiloc, one of the largest developer enterprises for Symbian, because they are using a very nasty DRM protection system to avoid cracking.

However, “Psiloc Connect” is definitely an application which is anyhow worth to write about. Finally you will get rid of the problems which are caused by the really not so well solved issue of access point handling of the S60 UI.

“Psiloc connect” makes sure to always use automatically the fastest connection, makes you save money by preferring Wi-Fi connections instead of GPRS/3G connections and switches access points without the user’s enchroachment.

Psiloc Connect:

If you want to use an Internet connection and a WLAN connection is not available, you can either not connect or use an 3G/GSM access point.

Of course the “3G/GSM access point” can be selected in the application.

There are also romaing options to avoid high costs in a different network than the one of your provider.

The last available option shows the transferred data with the “Psiloc Connect” access point.

To explain the application, I give you an example: I am at home and want to browse with the S60 browser via my WLAN connection. So I am choosing the “Psiloc Connect” access point and the application will automatically use my WLAN connection, because it is available.

However, when I am on the move, I don’t have a WLAN connection as you can see on the screenshot. So I use “Opera Mini” to reduce data and choose “Psiloc Connect” as access point which uses automatically my 3G connection.

Of course you can set the “Psiloc Connect” access point as default one in your applications, so you needn’t even choose it. The application does everything on its own, without an action performed by the user.

As I said, “Psiloc Connect” is not a freeware application. You can download a 10 days trial or purchase it for 10 € in the Psiloc Shop.
