Finally: Nokia N95-3 to get a Firmware Update soon

I think all users of the N95-3 are aware that Nokia hasn’t shown any signs to support the US version of the N95 which supports the WCDMA frequencies. While the European version has already received two unbelievably impressive updates which brought demand paging, web runtime and Flash Lite 3 support, US are forced to use an N95 which is far away from the standard of firmware v21.
Furthermore, N95-3 users cannot run many cool Python applications which have accelerometer support what is of course very annoying as there are so many great freewares.
However, I just came across a very interesting post over at the Nokia Discussion Support forums of the member “vandelay”, the administrator of the forum, who has received a very interesting message from the Nokia Software Update team:
“Nokia is aware of consumers’ demand for a new software release, and our development teams are working to produce the new software as soon as possible. We estimate that the new software should be available early June.
Please note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available. Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants will have the latest Nokia device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any delay.”
Although it’s a shame what Nokia did with N95 US users, let’s see this message as amazing news for our friends who live in the States.
Hopefully Nokia won’t release just an alibi update to tranquilize angry N95-3 users, but a real big update which packs all the great features that European N95 users received through numerous updates like demand paging, web runtime and Flash Lite 3 support.
It’s only half a month till June, so count the days. :)
