I think many E61/E61i or N82 users know what I am talking about – the lack of the pencil key is a real shame. Removed by Nokia to save space for the other keys, some S60 models don’t have the powerful key which is very useful for text editing to quickly copy/paste text or switch between different languages.
You could get over that text editing is not as comfortable as with other modells (N82 uses the “#” key to mark text), but that some great freeware cannot be used on those phones is really annoying. Because the pencil key isn’t utilized very often, it is often used as part of a hotkey to activate applications, among them “EQ AltTab” and “Nokmote v1.0 Beta 1″.

Honestly, I really prefer freeware applications and if they must be commercial, they shouldn’t be developed by Psiloc, one of the largest developer enterprises for Symbian, because they are using a very nasty DRM protection system to avoid cracking.
However, “Psiloc Connect” is definitely an application which is anyhow worth to write about. Finally you will get rid of the problems which are caused by the really not so well solved issue of access point handling of the S60 UI.

This is no application I am going to use frequently, but all the music fans among you should definitely have a look at “BeatED”.
“BeatEd” is a simple drum machine application for Symbian S60 mobile phones. It was originally developed in couple of nights to get a drum machine and metronome application for personal guitar playing purposes. After getting a lot of new ideas and positive feedback, the developer decided to improve it a bit and make a decent public release of it.
The application is great to produce little drum compositions which sound pretty good. However, it’s nothing to create professional songs on the go.

You know that the N-Gage arena has finally gone live some days ago. Pretty quiet, with a delayed and unspectacular little message. Actually I expected the start of the long awaited gaming platform a little bit different…
Anyway, similar to the unspectacular kind of announcing the arena’s launch has been the extent – only five games and five suported devices. Currently only the N81, N81 8GB, N82, N95 and N95 8GB are supported.

I came across this very useful application thanks to a post at Symbian60.mobi and joined the beta phase of “OpLogo Changer”.
“OpLogo Changer” helps the user to replace the operator font in the standby screen with any little graphic you like.

I have already posted the press release about a cooperation with Symbian and Dolby to bring rich and vibrant surround sound from various types of mobile entertainment content, including music, movies, television, and games, to Symbian smartphones.
The new Dolby sound was already presented at CTIA Las Vegas at the Symbian booth. IntoMobile has been there and posted some interesting pictures and information about the new Dolby application running on an N95 8GB.

Please don’t think what happened to Sittiphol’s great programming skill and creative ideas about new applications. Maybe you would have expected more than this simple application after the two ”must-have applications” “MobiTubia” and “Themes Launcher” - “NeoReboot” is a little application he just developed for fun as test object to try out the new Open Signed system.
He didn’t plan to release it, but because it is quite useful and maybe one of the only current working reboot applications as it is fully compatible with Open Signed, I decided to write a post about it anyway.

I am so proud to tell you that Gene from Keynetik has elected me as one of two other bloggers to receive “Rock’n'Scroll” even before the public release.
As I said, I really don’t have time now to write much, because it is my birthday.
Anyway, I decided to inform you about it and that you can be eagerly for the next days when I am posting more information about this great application.
