Nokia Maps 2.0 leaves Beta State – Updates include enhanced Pedestrian Navigation, new Satellite Images and Support for integrated Compass Orientation

Nokia today announced that its highly anticipated update for Nokia Maps has left beta stage and is now ready for consumers to download.
 
Downloaded over 240,000 times since announced in February, Nokia Maps 2.0 has improved its optional Car Navigation, enhanced its pedestrian navigation, added multimedia city guides, now offers satellite images, and is sporting a redesigned user interface. Nokia’s mapping and navigation solutions give people navigation features, local content and world maps directly on their mobile device, in a way that only connected devices can.

Opera Mini 4.1 leaves Beta State

We have been using the beta version of the great “Opera Mini” update v4.1 for quite a while now and as announced, the developers have just released the the final version of the world’s popular web browser.

Final Version of Opera Mini 4.1 to come next Week

I just wanted to briefly inform you that “Opera Mini 4.1″ is going to leave the current beta state next week as a stable running version with new features.

Since the launch of “Opera Mini 4.1 Beta”, the developers have done more than 150 changes to fix various issues and to ensure that it will run as well as possible on your device. Many of these  changes are based directly on feedback from “Opera Mini” users.
Among other things the team has adjusted how the “Save Page” function works.

New Version of Nokia Maps v2.0 Beta released

I think you all know “Nokia Maps”, the own navigation software of the Finnish mobile giant which is preinstalled on every new S60 device.

The completely reworked version “Nokia Maps v2.0 Beta” has been relased some time ago which brought great new features and got very close to established applications like “Route 66″.
The current version v2.0 is still in beta state and so it’s clear that the version is still buggy and has not all the features that the final version will contain.

ShakeSMS v1.01 Beta sent to Donators

Tong Reng, the Chinese developer who got famous through his project “FlipSilent”, has sent out the newest version of his current application “ShakeSMS” to donators.

“ShakeSMS” uses accelerometer technology to facilitate daily SMS reading. Instead of unlocking the keyboard, opening the incoming message, reading it, closing it and locking the keyboard again, the user must only shake the phone to pass the mentioned steps of SMS reading.

RockNScroll Beta v1.01 released

I think you all know about the great application “RockNScroll” developed by Keynetik which provides users to control their phones by motion input. Menu navigation, gaming – no problem for the application which detects movements by using the accelerometer of latest Nseries phones like the N95.

The first beta version worked well, but only on the N95, because Keynetik was only able to test their application on the device they own themselves. On other phones having an accelerometer like the N95 8GB and N82, the application caused many problems it didn’t work in many cases.

A small – but really nice – treat for Windows Vista users: Nokia Text Messenger is a Windows Vista gadget, with which you can view your latest SMS messages, and send new ones, conveniently from your Windows Vista sidebar.

ShakeMe v1.0 Alpha/Beta 1 to be released soon?

I wrote some time ago that Samir, the great developer of accelerometer using applications like Nokmote, rotateMe and ShutUp, has added the names of two new applications on his website.

The icons of “ShakeMe” and “LoudUp” are still disabled, so that we don’t know anything about the applications’ functionality yet. Indeed a good decision of Samir, because all of his applications have been copied, well let’s say they have received an “alternative”. ;)
