Maybe you have heard about the disussion that has been kicked of by All About N-Gage a few days ago by unveiling that purchased N-Gage games are locked to one IMEI. They can be activated on one phone as often as you like e.g. after resetting your phone, but when you buy a new device or want to use your second phone, the game activation won’t work.
Nokia’s official stated policy is that N-Gage activation codes should only work on the device where they were first activated, because they feel this is an important way to combat digital piracy and ensure that their partners are not losing out on sales.

Week per week are new games added to the N-Gage platform which contains now a lot of interesting games compared to the sobering release with only very few games some time ago.

You know that the N-Gage arena has finally gone live some days ago. Pretty quiet, with a delayed and unspectacular little message. Actually I expected the start of the long awaited gaming platform a little bit different…
Anyway, similar to the unspectacular kind of announcing the arena’s launch has been the extent – only five games and five suported devices. Currently only the N81, N81 8GB, N82, N95 and N95 8GB are supported.

I reported about the lack of 3D acceleration in N-Gage games. A real shame, because devices like the N95 are so much more powerful: They can display amazing graphics, much better ones than normal devices.
Now there are very interesting new from the N-Gage Blog:
In a talk this afternoon, Nokia’s Peter Lykke Nielsen — with an assist from the guys at Digital Legends Entertainment — showed interested game developers how the OpenGL ES 1.1 standard will be incorporated into the N-Gage Software Development Kit (SDK) in the near future. Nielsen is the product manager of the N-Gage SDK.

The “Game Developers Conference” has been starting today, participating in San Franciso. Nokia seems to show really interesting things there: apart from new N-Gage an SNAP games, they will present 3D accelerated games, a topic I have written about and we have discussed yesterday.
I really hope this will be a prove that Nokia is really thinking about launching 3D accelerated games also for public:
