You still remember the video I posted about the funny application “Pocket Toshi” which used the accelerometer of the N95, N95 8GB and N82 to create music directly on your phone?
This time the funny application hasn’t been available yet, but I am happy to tell you that the developer has just released it.

Offering unlimited music downloads to phone buyers will make money for Nokia as well as record labels, the handset maker said, dismissing talk the move would come at the expense of profits.
“We expect to make money both from our traditional device sales, as well as from the ‘Comes With Music’ service,” said Liz Schimel, head of Nokia’s music business. “I can assure you that we are looking out for everyone’s interests in creating these new business models, including our own.”

After the rumours I have posted here and here, Nokia today announced that SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT has officially joined Nokia Comes With Music, a revolutionary way for people to discover and enjoy music with their Nokia device.
“As one of the leading major music companies in the world, our collaboration with SONY BMG means we can offer a huge range of fantastic music from both international and local artists via Comes With Music,” said Tero Ojanperä, executive vice president and head of the Nokia Entertainment and Communities business. “It’s great to have them on board as we move forward with bringing our unlimited music bundle to the market.”

Nokia today introduced two new music-enabled devices as additions to its XpressMusic range. The new Nokia 5320 XpressMusic and Nokia 5220 XpressMusic offer a range of affordable music and entertainment experiences with the most fresh, stylish designs on the market. Both music devices are expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2008, with an expected retail price range of 160 to 220 EUR, before taxes and subsidies.
“Our XpressMusic range of devices continues to deliver the combination of superior music experiences and fresh, innovative designs,” said Jo Harlow, Vice President, LIVE category, Nokia. “Today’s additions to the XpressMusic range up the ante with new ways for consumers to access their media as well as interact and share content with friends and communities anytime, anywhere.”

This is no application I am going to use frequently, but all the music fans among you should definitely have a look at “BeatED”.
“BeatEd” is a simple drum machine application for Symbian S60 mobile phones. It was originally developed in couple of nights to get a drum machine and metronome application for personal guitar playing purposes. After getting a lot of new ideas and positive feedback, the developer decided to improve it a bit and make a decent public release of it.
The application is great to produce little drum compositions which sound pretty good. However, it’s nothing to create professional songs on the go.
