We have really not heard much by Samir in the last weeks. No new versions and no news about signing.
However, the day before yesterday, he suddenly announced to publish new versions of his applications ready for Open Signed and today, there is finally also moving something with his projects.

Samir has become even more popular with the release of the first real accelerometer using application – “rotateMe v2.0″ to auto rotate the screen. All the people using an older phone which doesn’t have an accelerometer can’t use this great application.
Although accelerometer applications are very popular nowadays, it’s great that Samir also improved the first version of “rotateMe” with manual screen rotation.
The first beta version of “rotateMe v1.5″ has been released today for donators. The new version brings the great settings we already know from the second version and further launching possibilities.

Samir seems to have worked hard on “rotateMe”, the great application which auto rotates the screen when you turn your phone by using the accelerometer of phones like the N95.

“rotateMe v2.0 Final” is now available for public. Everyone can download it on Samir’s website. Because “rotateMe v2.0 Beta 7″ seems to have worked well, Samir didn’t change anything on the final version.

The application “rotateMe v2.0″, using the built in accelerometer of phones like the N95 to auto rotate the screen, has become very popular.
Now a real competitor is in development with a great function “rotateMe” doesn’t have: “LandscapePro 2.0″ brings an additional 270° rotation mode.
The application is still a demo and can’t be personalised like “rotateMe” by settings like sensitivity or reactivity, but it works already very well.
I like the 270° rotation mode especially for gaming. All popular portable games consoles have the direction cross on the left side. Because of the 270° rotation of “LandscapePro 2.0″, you can also play games this way on your N95.

We didn’t hear much about Samir’s applications the last time, but now he released two new versions of “rotateMe v2.0″.
This night, “rotateMe v2.0 Beta 6″ was published for donators on his forum, but it contained a bug, autostart was not working when ‘By launching’ was enabled.
That’s why he just released “rotateMe v2.0 Beta 7″ which should be the last beta and basically the same as the final version released for public, if no major bugs will be discovered.

A new feature is activating / deactivating autorotation by launching the application, what means you reselect the icon, although “rotateMe” is already running.
Samir decided to add this feature, because he didn’t find a suitable hotkey for the Nokia N82.
Furthermore, he fixed the “Hidden App.” bug. The named features were already included in “rotateMe v2.0 Beta 6″ and as I said, “rotateMe v2.0 Beta 7″ additionally fixed the autostart problem of Beta 6.

I think all of us “Samir fans” were wondering, why we didn’t here anything about his work.
“Nokmote v1.0 Beta 2″ was scheduled for the last December weekend 2007 and we were also expecting “rotateMe v2.0 Final”, but till now nothing has happened.
As you know, all donators can access Samir’s forum providing also exclusive information about his development.
He wrote a very interesting message I also want to share with people who didn’t donate, but are anyhow interested in Samir’s applications.
Samir is indeed working hard. He has taken in hand with finishing seven projects still in January, among these also two new applications:

I found a script for Python using the accelerometer of phones like the N95.
It’s nothing especially, but a funny thing:

When you rotate the phone, Python displays in which direction this is done.
The script can be downloaded here. It must be directed into “C:\Python”.

As I’ve already written, Samir will publish the fifth beta of rotateMe for public, because of the lot of emails he received with the question, when the final version will be available. As you can see, today is the big day.
New in this version is, the “Hidden App.” setting to hide rotateMe from the task manager. Also the help content is now available. Again good features which have been added!
You can get more information here and this is the download link. rotateMe works on N95, N95 8Gb and N82.

There are some news about RotateMe v2.0!
The N95 8GB has got a second landscape mode (270°). Samir, the developer wants to add this mode to rotateMe and just has to make keys swivel correctly.
Basically, we will be able to play games with correct orientation with the joypad on the left side.
Samirs post: “Maitre.articier carried out some manipulations for me on his N95, and since last bid up to date, it supports from now on 3 modes: 0°, 180°, 270°” (I think he meant 0°, 90°, 270°, but I am not completely sure).
He is looking into posibility of N95-1 and N95-3 supporting this mode as well. The public version will be released as planned (this could be the reason, why the release announced for Wednesday was delayed), but donators will continue receiving futural betas.
So even though the final version will be released to the public soon, he still deserves our donations.
