Samsung investigates more and more in the smartphone market and introduces apart from Windows Mobile based phones also Symbian S60 modells like their impressive flagship G810 which is based on S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 and brings a lot of features that we only knew from Nokia’s Nseries before.
You may remember that another S60 based modell has been spotted at the Tele-Vision in Nieuwegein. Parts of the Samsung L870 became already common there, however there were still a lot of unanswered questions about Samsung’s latest S60 smartphone.

According to DigiTimes, Nokia has chosen Samsung Electronics over STMicroelectronics as an additional supplier for high-end 5-megapixel CMOS image sensors, as the South Korea vendor is ahead of STMicroelectronics in pushing the products to market, according to market sources in Taiwan.
Nokia has been buying the bulk of its entry- and mid-range CMOS image sensors from STMicroelectronics, while purchasing the high-end CMOS image sensors for its N-series camera phones from either OmniVision or Aptina, the sources indicated.

Samsung’s S60 phones like the SGH-i550 and G800 are pretty popular, because they unique Nokia’s great S60 UI and a solid built case. Nokia didn’t succed in building their great Nseries devices without problems for the consumer, there were lots of problems affecting the building quality like the wobbling N95 slider and so on. So Samsung’s S60 devices are a great alternative, especially the G800 is very awaited.
Nice to see that Samsung continues to build on the S60 UI, as they showsed at the Tele-Vision in Nieuwegein by presenting another Symbian phone.

I think you all know this great upcoming S60 phone from the Korean phone manufacturer Samsung, the G810, which has caused huge attention at Mobile World Congress, the place of its announcement.
The Samsung G810 bundles all the multimedia features of the latest Nseries devices: a 5 MP camera with 3x optical zoom and a Xenon flash, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3,6 Mbps HSDPA (3.5G). That’s everything the N82, N95, N95 8GB are also offering from another phone enterprise of Nokia for the very first time.

The meaning of a camera built into a cellphone has changed in the past few years. From a gadget that makes photos in VGA resolution you don’t want to show anybody because of the ugly quality, photography has become must-have multimedia feature in all new phones.
With Sony Ericsson’s K800 or at the latest with Nokia’s release of their 5 MP devices N95, N95 8GB and N82, mobile cameras have become so good that they are able to replace a standalone camera.

I really like the great new Symbian S60 phone from Samsung. The G810 which was announced at Mobile World Congress is actually more interesting for me than Nokia’s announcements:
I like the N96, but it doesn’t have many advantages compared to the N95, considering that I cannot use the main new DVB-H feature here in Germany. It has even large disadvantages e.g. the lack of 3D acceleration, because it is based on a different chipset, what is a real shame in my opinion.

After all the talk about Nokia’s announcements of great new S60 phones, it’s time to talk also about other mobile manufacturers.
Samsung has announced the G810 at Mobile World Congress, a phone that bundles a great design and high end features in one device.
Apart from an impressive 5 MP camera with auto focus and 3x optical zoom, it has most of the features we love from our N95: WLAN, GPS, large screen and also S60v3 FP 1.

Gaming on mobile phones is becoming more and more popular nowadays, not only since the launch of Nokia’s great N-Gage platform providing users of Nseries phones high quality games.
However, the game control is still a problem on ordinary phones. Since the flopping N-Gage, we haven’t seen any dedicated device designed to play games. We have seen a few concepts by Nokia, but nothing points to a real plan to release such a device.
